One of the strongest features possessed by the surgeons of Davenport Surgical Group, PC (DSG) is their training at different residency programs, which brings a wide variety of techniques and approaches to the community. The surgeons work in a close, collaborative manner, meeting weekly to review the care of all of the patients served by the group.
The DSG surgeons have remained at the forefront of program development and the introduction of new technology in the Quad-City area. DSG has been instrumental in the development of the Center for Breast Health in collaboration with area radiologists and Genesis Medical Center, as well as the Genesis Trauma Program and the Center for Bariatric Surgery. In addition, DSG surgeons serve in leadership positions in the Genesis Comprehensive Community Cancer Program - accredited by the American College of Surgeons.
In 2005, the introduction of laparoscopic techniques for Bariatric Surgery was pioneered in the Quad-Cities by the surgeons at DSG. Other new technologies such as laparoscopic surgery in the early 1990's and sentinel lymph node biopsy in breast cancer and melanoma in the late 1990's were championed by the surgeons at DSG. These advances are part of the commitment that the DSG surgeons have made to their patients and their community.
